Canoes & Kayaks

Whether you want to reduce stress after a hard day’s work, try your hand at recreational fishing, or challenge your upper body and burn calories by paddling as fast as you can - Sunfish Lake is the place to be!

The City of Ramsey, in conjunction with grant funding from Anoka County State Health Improvement Program (SHIP), has installed a self-service canoe and kayak kiosk at Sunfish Lake, located at 6330 Sunwood Drive. The kiosk holds two single-person sit-in kayaks and two three-person canoes. Paddles and life-vests are also provided.

How to Rent

There is no charge for use, but a ‘swipe card’ authorizing access to the watercraft is needed. You may obtain a swipe card (which is yours to keep) by visiting our Park and Rec department, which is located (upstairs) just inside the Administration and Finance area at City Hall. You must read / sign the terms of use agreement and liability waiver and provide proof of identification. You must also be 18 years of age or older to obtain a swipe card; however, children are welcome to accompany adults.
